Our summer camps are back!

This year, we have been working hard to create exciting themes and fun activities for your toddlers and elementary-aged children to enjoy. We can’t wait to see you at the Dinosaur Park this summer!

2024 Preschool Camps

Preschool Camps are designed for children ages 3-6 and run for two hours. During these programs, young campers will learn age-appropriate concepts in both science and paleontology. This program fosters curiosity and lifelong learning as campers carry out basic scientific investigations and explore park resources including real fossils alongside bone-a-fied park paleontologists. Through interactive lessons delivered by storytelling, arts and crafts, and natural exploration, campers will have fun learning to “time travel” through science and their imaginations.

(these are 2 hour camps)

Time Traveler Training – Have you ever wanted to jump in a time machine and travel back in time to see the dinosaurs? This camp teaches how to do that with your imagination instead of a time machine. Along the way, we’ll turn plants into fossils, learn how to navigate the eras of Earth’s history, and explore the Park with a whole new mindset.

Session 1 – Thursday June 6, 2024 9:00-11:00 & 12:00-2:00

Mammoth Beasts and How to Find Them – Come join us on an exploration of the Ice Age! We’ll search for animals like mammoths, saber-tooth cats, and giant bears, learn how they kept warm, and how-to hunt for them—back then AND now. We may even “clone” our own mammoth!

Session 2 – Thursday June 20, 2024 9:00am-11:00am &12:00-2:00

Dino Defenses: Beaks, Horns, and Tails with Thorns – Prehistory can be both exciting and dangerous, so this camp will show how prehistoric animals played defense. We’ll explore the different tactics of horned and armored dinosaurs, then put that knowledge to the test by creating our own versions of their armor!

Session 3 – Thursday July 11, 2024 9:00am-11:00am & 12:00PM-2:00PM

Dino Predators: Teeth, Claws, and Powerful Jaws – It’s time to turn the tables and explore some of the fiercest animals in Earth’s history! Step into the role of giant dinosaurian carnivores and get ready to .. . DANCE?! No, it’s not choreography, it’s science! We’ll explore the fossils that reveal this and other wild carnosaur behaviors during this carnivorous camp.

Session 4 -Thursday July 25, 2024 9:00am-11:00am & 12:00-2:00PM

2024 Elementary Camps

Calling all junior paleontologists! Our Elementary Camp sessions consist of a one-day, four-hour program designed for children ages 7-12. In these programs, young campers will explore the process of paleontology from fossil recovery to lab work, museum reconstructions to fossil interpretation. Some of the activities replicate cutting-edge paleontology directly from professional scientific literature. Each camp spotlights a specific prehistoric animal, drawing connections between it and its world, its relatives, and modern animals with similar lifestyles. If your child would love to take a deep dive into the world of science and paleontology this summer, these camps will provide them with an experience they will never forget!

Lifestyles of the Iced and Ancient

Come join us for this exciting camp program which explores the Ice Age world of the Woolly Mammoth. We’ll discover elements of the Woolly Mammoth like their weird teeth, take a look at some of their contemporaries like saber-toothed cats and dire wolves, and even reconstruct a bit of Pleistocene Utah. You’ll never look at your neighborhood the same way again!

Session 1 Thursday June 13,2024 9:00am – 1:00pm,

Session 3 Thursday July 18, 2024 9:00am-1:00pm

Armored and Predacious

In this camp program, junior paleontologists will examine the dynamic relationship between predator and prey by discovering the mighty Triceratops, its kin, and its nemesis: Tyrannosaurus rex. Campers will get a close look at some real Triceratops fossils and try their hands at role-playing as a horned dinosaur. We might even make a little Duck Soup using techniques developed by real scientists. Who would win in a fight: Triceratops or T. rex? Find out what the fossil record tells us about this epic matchup during this unforgettable experience!

Session 2 – Thursday June 20, 2024 – 9:00am – 1:00pm

Session 4 Thursday August 1, 2024 9:00am-1:00pm
